David Simon
American Center David Simon (208-C-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Anyang KGC, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 28.
The 34-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Goyang Orions (#3, 21-12) 95-80. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Anyang KGC maintains the 2nd position in South Korean KBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Anyang KGC will need more victories to improve their 22-9 record. In the team's last game Simon had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Anyang KGC's top player in his first season with the team. Former Indiana Univ-Purdue Univ.-Ft.Wayne star has very solid stats this year. Simon is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.9ppg), rebounds (7th best: 9.9rpg) and averages impressive 1.9bpg and 62.1% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 22-year old international center Jong-Hyun Lee (206-C-94) of Mobis Phoebus. Lee had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds. It was enough for Mobis Phoebus to edge slightly lower-ranked LG Sakers (#7, 14-19) 77-75. Mobis Phoebus' 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 16-17 record. Lee is a newcomer at Mobis Phoebus and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was Central African forward James Mays (206-F/C-86) of LG Sakers (#7). Mays got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for sixteen rebounds . He was a key player of LG Sakers, leading his team to a 85-80 win against the lower-ranked Sonic Boom KT (#10, 9-24). The chances of LG Sakers ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 19 games, recording just fourteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Mays could help LG Sakers to bring them higher in the standings. Mays has a great season in South Korea. After 32 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.3ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 12.0rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ricardo Ratliffe (203-F-89) of Samsung Th. - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Aaron Haynes (201-F-81) of Goyang Orions - 29 points and 10 rebounds
6. Charles Rhodes (203-F/C-85) of Mobis Phoebus - 33 points and 10 rebounds
7. Terrico White (196-G-90) of SK Knights - 25 points and 8 rebounds
8. James Mays (206-F/C-86) of LG Sakers - 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Jun-Yl Kim (202-C-92) of Samsung Th. - 22 points and 7 rebounds
10. Leon Williams (203-C/F-86) of Sonic Boom KT - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
