28-year old power forward Rodrique Benson (207-F/C-84) had a great game in the last round for LG Sakers and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 19. He had a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Anyang KGC (13-12) with 17-point margin 103-86. LG Sakers is placed at 4th position in South Korean league. LG Sakers is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 13-12 record. Benson turned to be LG Sakers' top player in his first season with the team. University of California graduate has very impressive stats this year. Benson is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.9rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg and 56.8% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Leon Williams (203-F/C-86) of Goyang Orions. He is Belizean-American forward in his first season at Goyang Orions. In the last game Williams recorded impressive double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Goyang Orions lost that game 86-91 to the higher-ranked SK Knights (#1, 21-5). Goyang Orions managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 11-14 record. Williams is a newcomer at Goyang Orions and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.6ppg (#6). He also registered 11.6 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to center Jasper Johnson (201-C-83) of Sonic Boom KT (#8). Johnson showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, thirteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Sonic Boom KT, leading his team to a 64-62 win against slightly lower-ranked KCC Egis (#10, 3-22). The chances of Sonic Boom KT ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Johnson could help Sonic Boom KT to bring them higher in the standings. Johnson has a great season in South Korea. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 7.7rpg (9th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Sun-Hyung Kim (187-G-88) of SK Knights - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists 5. Juan Pattillo (197-F-88) of Anyang KGC - 27 points and 10 rebounds 6.
