American Darian Townes (208-F/C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Samsung Th. and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 28-year old power forward had a double-double of 21 points and nineteen rebounds, while his team beat KCC Egis (#10, 3-21) 69-61. Samsung Th. maintains the 6th position in South Korean KBL. Samsung Th. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 12-12 record. Townes turned to be Samsung Th.'s top player in his first season with the team. Townes has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (9th best: 15.2ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 9.5rpg) and averages solid 1.5bpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 37-year old American forward Tae-Jong Moon (199-F-75, agency: Alti Sport) of second-ranked ET Land. Moon impressed basketball fans with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as ET Land lost that game 64-70 to the lower-ranked LG Sakers (#5, 12-12). ET Land managed to keep the same second spot in the standings. His team's 16-7 record is not bad at all. Moon is one of the most experienced players at ET Land and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.3ppg (#8). He also registered 5.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was former international forward Joo-Sung Kim (205-F/C-79) of Dongbu Promy (#9). Kim scored 27 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was a key player of Dongbu Promy, leading his team to a 77-71 win against slightly lower-ranked KCC Egis (#10, 3-21). Dongbu Promy can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 7-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Kim he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Kim has individually a great season in South Korea. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.3apg (5th best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 58.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Kibwe Trim (208-F/C-84) of Anyang KGC - 22 points and 8 rebounds
5. Aaron Haynes (201-F-81) of SK Knights - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Jasper Johnson (201-C-83) of Sonic Boom KT - 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Hee-jae Jung) of KCC Egis - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Rodrique Benson (207-F/C-84) of LG Sakers - 13 points and 8 rebounds
9. Leon Williams (203-F/C-86) of Goyang Orions - 21 points and 10 rebounds
10. Carlos Powell (199-F-83) of ET Land - 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
