28-year old power forward Darian Townes (208-F/C-84) had an amazing evening in the last round for Samsung Th. and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds, while his team edged out SK Knights (#1, 16-5) 74-71. Thanks to this victory Samsung Th. moved-up to the 6th position in the South Korean league. Samsung Th. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-10 record. Townes turned to be Samsung Th.'s top player in his first season with the team. Townes has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 15.5ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 9.6rpg) and averages solid 1.6bpg.

Second best performed player last round was Rodrique Benson (207-F/C-84) of LG Sakers. He is American forward in his first season at LG Sakers. In the last game Benson recorded impressive double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he lead LG Sakers to another comfortable win 84-71 over the lower-ranked Sonic Boom KT (#8, 8-13) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed LG Sakers to move up to 5th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Benson is a newcomer at LG Sakers and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Richard Roby (198-G/F-85) of Dongbu Promy (#9). Roby scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds. Despite Roby's great performance Dongbu Promy lost 66-76 to the higher-ranked SK Knights (#1, 16-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Dongbu Promy can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 5-16 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Roby he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Roby has a very solid season. In 7 games in South Korea he scored 21.4ppg. He also has 5.4rpg and FGP: 72.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Rodrique Benson (207-F/C-84) of LG Sakers - 21 points and 16 rebounds
5. Dong-Geun Yang (181-G-81) of Mobis Phoebus - 28 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Ji-Hoon Ham (198-C/F-84) of Mobis Phoebus - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists
7. Carlos Powell (199-F-83) of ET Land - 26 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Yeong-Sang Bakg (90) of KCC Egis - 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists
9. Darian Townes (208-F/C-84) of Samsung Th. - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Aaron Haynes (201-F-81) of SK Knights - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
