Goyang Orions (KBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old American center Scott Merritt (208-111kg-82, college: Marquette, agency: Top Notch Sports). He already started the season at Al Jahraa in Kuwaiti D1 league. The last season Merritt played at Toshiba Thunders in Japanese JBL. In 38 games last year he recorded 10.3ppg and 6.8rpg.
The previous (10-11) season he played at Tochigi Brex in JBL. In 36 games that season he averaged 13.2ppg and 7.0rpg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese JBL Superleague Honorable Mention.
Merritt won Japanese JBL Superleague championship title in 2010.
He is quite experienced player. Merritt has played also professionally in Cyprus (Etha), Italy, Poland, Turkey (Bornova), Ukraine (Budivelnyk), NBA (Chicago Bulls), UBA (Columbus Claws) and D-League (Austin Toros and Tulsa 66ers).
He attended Marquette University until 2004 and it will be his ninth season as a professional player.
