Last season the Wonju Dongbu Promy were a single jumpshot short of pushing the KBL finals to a seventh game. Their struggle all season had been consistant three-point shooting and despite shooting guard Hwang Jin-Won's affinity for taking 3s the team had no legitimate threat. One of the main reasons for this was that they lost all-star shooting guard Lee Kwang-Jae (188-G/F-84) to the army and rookie Ahn Jae-Wook (175-G-87) was slow to develop. What a difference a year makes.

This season Hwang shot better and a few weeks into the season Ahn seemed to hit his stride and was playing substantially better than last year. There was a strecth of three or four games where Ahn led the team and was the key to their victories. The team has now dominated this season losing only 7 times and still perfect in 2012. Furthermore, Lee Kwang-Jae has returned and looks like he hasn't missed a beat. In his second game back with the team he shot 5 for 8 from 3-point range. The Promy have clinched the top seed in the league and have the luxury of going into the second round of the playoffs well rested. Between their dominant record, roster stability, and now the return of the one thing they were lacking the Promy are definitely in a position where anything less than a championship would be considered a failure.

Samsung Th. - Anyang KGC 86-88 Anyang KGC rallied past Samsung Thunders in Game 6 of the championship series and celebrated KBL title.
