NBL Round 5: SAFSA edges Tong Whye by two points - Aug 21, 2016

The most exciting game of round 5 in the NBL took place in Singapore. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Tong Whye (1-3) to fifth ranked SAFSA (3-1) 73-71 on Friday evening. SAFSA have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with SBPHK H. Tong Whye lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Min Yi and Tampines WM. SAFSA is looking forward to face league's leader SinKee in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tong Whye will play against Tagawa (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Tampines WM can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Min Yi (1-3) 69-53. Tampines WM left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Tong Whye and Min Yi. It was Min Yi's third loss in a row. Tampines WM will play against Chong Chee (#10) in the next round. Min Yi will play against SBPHK H. to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game with biggest result difference took place in . Local Adroit - TRT (4-1) outscored 6th ranked Tagawa (1-2) 73-45 on Friday night. Adroit - TRT maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader SinKee. Tagawa at the other side keeps the sixth position with two games lost. Adroit - TRT will meet Siglap (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tagawa will play against Tong Whye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 5 Siglap crushed Chong Chee in a road game 71-52.

Chong Chee - Siglap 52-71

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Chong Chee (1-4) was crushed at home by leader Siglap (3-0) 71-52 on Friday. Siglap have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Chong Chee at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Siglap will meet at home league's second-placed Adroit - TRT in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chong Chee will play against Tampines WM (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Hua Sports Club have won ActiveSG-BAS National Masters Cup 2017 last night. In the Final game they beat Freeman 64-57. Hong Liang Electronics meanwhile clinched third place defeating PCW & Partners (Blue) 50-40. Earlier in the semifinals Freeman posted a 65-53 win over PCW & Partners.
