Chinese Taipei smashed Singapore in Day 1 of the U16 FIBA Asia Championship in Pune. Yu-Ting Lin led the scorers in victory with 19 and Jung Yang had two points less then her. Chia-Wen Kuo helped with 16 pts. In Singapore, five players had 4 points each. Both teams are with four other countries placed to Preliminary Group A. In Day 2, Chinese Taipei will play against Hong Kong. Singapore will meet Philippines.

Dinara Moldakhmetova (176-G-94) recorded 29 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Kazakh team. Singapore surged ahead in the opening frame. They established a 15:9 lead after ten minutes. They established an 18-point lead heading into the fourth frame. Singapore cut the margin but could not challenge the deficit as Kazakhstan rolled to the win.
