SBL Round 20: Al Fateh beats Al Ittihad in the most crucial game of the week - Apr 1, 2017

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Al Hasa. First ranked Al Fateh faced one of their biggest challengers Al Ittihad. Host Al Fateh (17-3) smashed guests from Jeddah (16-4) 91-53. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Al Ittihad. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al Fateh maintains first position with 17-3 record, which they share with Al Nasr. Defending champion Al Ittihad keeps the third place with four games lost. Al Fateh is looking forward to face Al Nahda (#11) in Al Khobar in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Ittihad's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jeddah Al Ahli Jeddah.
The game in Jeddah was also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Uhud (14-6) played at the court of sixth ranked Al Ahli Jeddah (13-7). Al Ahli Jeddah managed to secure a 8-point victory 75-67. Al Ahli Jeddah moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Ansar. Uhud lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Al Ahli Jeddah's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Jeddah to the arena Al Ittihad.

Rest of the games of round 20 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Al Wehda crushed Al Salam in Mecca 76-56. Al Nasr smashed Al Nahda at home 93-66. Al Arabi was destroyed by Al Hilal on the opponent's court 97-68. Bottom-ranked Al Noor was outscored by Al Ansar in a home game 65-84.

Al Salam - Al Wehda 56-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Al Salam's (5-15) home loss to eighth ranked Al Wehda (8-12) 56-76. Al Wehda maintains eighth position with 8-12 record. Al Salam at the other side keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Al Wehda will play against higher ranked Al Hilal (#7) in Riyadh in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al Salam will play on the road against Al Ansar in Medina and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Al Nasr - Al Nahda 93-66

No shocking result in a game in Riyadh where second ranked Al Nasr (17-3) smashed 11th ranked Al Nahda (2-18) 93-66. Al Nasr keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Fateh. Al Nahda lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 18 games lost. Al Nasr will play against Al Arabi (#10) in Al-Qassim in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Nahda will play at home against the league's leader Al Fateh and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Al Hilal - Al Arabi 97-68

Rather expected game in Riyadh where 10th ranked Al Arabi (4-16) was rolled over by seventh ranked Al Hilal (10-10) 97-68. Al Hilal maintains seventh position with 10-10 record. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the tenth place with 16 games lost. Al Hilal will play against Al Wehda (#8) in Mecca in the next round. Al Arabi will play at home against the league's second-placed Al Nasr and will have a slim chance for a victory.

Al Fateh - Al Ittihad 91-53

They maintain fifth position with 13-7 record, which they share with Al Ahli Jeddah. Al Noor lost seventeenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 19 lost games. Al Ansar will play against Al Salam (#9) in Al-Awamiyah in the next round. Al Noor will play on the road against Uhud in Medina to get more than just one victory in their record.
