SBL Round 18: Al Ansar beats Uhud by three after a very close game - Mar 25, 2017

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The most exciting game of round 18 in the SBL took place in Medina. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Uhud (14-4) to sixth ranked Al Ansar (11-7) 82-79 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Uhud. Al Ansar have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 11-7 record. Uhud at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Al Ansar are looking forward to face higher ranked Al Ahli Jeddah (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Uhud will have a break next round.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Al Nasr (15-3) against fourth ranked Al Ittihad (15-3) on Friday night. Visiting Al Nasr was defeated by Al Ittihad in a tough game in Jeddah 79-86. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Al Nasr. Al Ittihad have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Al Nasr. Al Ittihad's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Jeddah Al Ittihad.
The game between fifth ranked Al Ahli Jeddah (12-6) and 8th ranked Al Wehda (6-12) in Jeddah on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Al Ahli Jeddah outscored guests from Mecca 66-36. Al Ahli Jeddah have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 12-6 record. Al Wehda lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Al Ahli Jeddah will meet Al Ansar (#6) in the next round. Al Wehda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Mecca Al Noor.

In the last two games of round 18 Al Nahda was smashed by Al Salam on the road 94-71. Al Arabi won against Al Noor on its own court 83-78.

Al Salam - Al Nahda 94-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Al Salam's (5-13) home victory over 10th ranked Al Nahda (2-16) in Al-Awamiyah 94-71 on Friday. Al Salam maintains ninth position with 5-13 record. Al Nahda lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh place with 16 games lost. Al Salam will meet Al Arabi (#10) in the next round. Al Nahda will play against Al Hilal and hope to secure a win.

Al Ansar - Uhud 82-79

Al Noor lost fifteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 17 lost games. Al Arabi will meet at home higher ranked Al Salam (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al Noor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Mecca to the arena Al Wehda.
