There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with derby games, favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most shocking disappointment of round 9 was only one-point a home defeat of second-best Al Ittihad (6-2) to third ranked Al Nasr (7-1) 63-62. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Al Nasr have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Al Ittihad dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Al Nasr are looking forward to face league's leader Al Fateh in Al Hasa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Ittihad will play on the road against Uhud in Medina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Medina: Uhud (#4) and Al Ansar (#6). Al Ansar was crushed at home by 18 points 71-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Ansar. Uhud (7-2) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Al Ansar at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Uhud will play against Al Ittihad (#4) in Jeddah in the next round. Al Ansar will play on the road against Al Ahli Jeddah and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Al Ahli Jeddah (#5) was upset in Mecca by eighth ranked Al Wehda 85-53. Al Wehda (3-5) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al Hilal. Loser Al Ahli Jeddah keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Al Wehda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Mecca to the arena Al Noor.
Al Arabi has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Noor (1-8) 69-60. Al Arabi left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Al Noor. It was Al Noor's sixth loss in a row. Al Arabi's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Salam (#9) in Al-Awamiyah and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
SBL top team - Al Fateh (8-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Al Hilal (3-5) in Al Hasa 86-70. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Al Fateh. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Loser Al Hilal keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Al Fateh will face league's second-placed Al Nasr in Riyadh in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al Hilal will play at home against Al Nahda (#10) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 9 Al Salam won against Al Nahda on the opponent's court 75-60.

Al Arabi - Al Noor 69-60

Al Arabi has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Noor (1-8) 69-60. Al Arabi left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Al Noor. It was Al Noor's sixth loss in a row. Al Nahda - Al Salam 60-75

There was a minor upset in Al Khobar where 9th ranked Al Nahda (2-7) was defeated by eleventh ranked Al Salam (2-7) 75-60 on Friday. Al Salam moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Al Nahda. Al Salam will face bottom-ranked Al Arabi (#12) in Al-Qassim in the next round.

Al Wehda - Al Ahli Jeddah 85-53

Uhud Medina (SBL) signed 29-year old American center Derrick Caracter (206-125kg-88, college: UTEP). He played last season at Echague in Argentinian LigaA.
