Al Ahli Jeddah (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old American (has also Jamaican passport) forward Joel Wright (201-102kg-90, college: Texas State at San Marcos). He already started the season at Cholet Basket in French ProA. The last summer Wright was tested by KL Dragons (ASEAN League) in Malaysia. He also played earlier that season for Star Hotshots in Filipino PBA where in 7 games he recorded very impressive stats: 28.4ppg, 14.6rpg, 2.7apg, 1.9spg and 1.4bpg. Wright also spent pre-season at SM Beermen (PBA) in Philippines earlier that year.
Two years ago he was drafted by Idaho Stampede (D-League) in fifth round (83rd overall).
The former Texas State at San Marcos staris in his third season in pro basketball.
Wright has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League this summer.
Among other achievements his team made it to the WAC Tournament Semifinals in 2013. Wright received also All-WAC 2nd Team award back in 2013 at his college time.
Wright has played also professionally for other D-League teams like Salt Lake City Stars, Northern Arizona Suns, Iowa Energy and Delaware 87ers.

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The most exciting game of round 18 in the SBL took place in Medina. SBL Round 17: Top-ranked Al Fateh wins another game - 11 days ago
The round 17 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. SBL top team - Al Fateh (15-2) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Al Noor (1-16) in Mecca 82-67. Al Fateh maintains first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Al Nasr. Al Noor lost fourteenth consecutive game.
