Premier League Round 7: Undefeated Uhud loses their first game against Al Ansar - Dec 20, 2012

There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, derby games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Uhud (6-1) in Medina on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Al Ansar (6-1) 87-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Uhud. Al Ansar have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Uhud and Al Wehda. Al Ansar is looking forward to face Al Fath (#5) in Al Hasa in the next round. Uhud will play at home against Al Wehda in Mecca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Jeddah: Al Ittihad (#1) and Al Ahli (#6). Al Ittihad (7-0) crushed visiting Al Ahli (3-4) by 18 points 73-55. Undefeated Al Ittihad have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 7-0 record. Al Ahli at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Hilal and Al Nahdha. Al Ittihad will play against bottom-ranked Al Nasr (#12) in Riyadh in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Al Ahli will play on the road against Al Hilal (#6) in Riyadh and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Al Khaleej has finally registered their first victory this season after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Jubail (0-7) 73-58 on Monday. Al Khaleej (1-6) left bottom position moving up to tenth place. It was Al Jubail's fifth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Al Nasr. Al Khaleej will meet at home higher ranked Al Nahdha (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Jubail will play against Al Qadisiya in Al Khubar and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Al Nasr (0-7) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to seventh ranked Al Hilal (3-4) 105-45. Al Hilal moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al Ahli and Al Nahdha. Al Nasr lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with seven games lost. Al Hilal's next round opponent will be Al Ahli (#7) in Jeddah. Al Nasr will play at home against the league's leader Al Ittihad (#1) in Jeddah and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
The game in Mecca was also quite interesting. 4th placed Al Fath (5-2) played at the court of fifth ranked Al Wehda (6-1). Al Wehda managed to secure a 8-point victory 75-67 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Fath. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al Wehda. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Uhud and Al Ansar. Loser Al Fath dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Al Wehda will face Uhud (#4) in Medina in the next round. Al Fath will play on the road against the league's second-placed Al Ansar in Medina.

In the last game of round 7 Al Qadisiya lost to Al Nahdha on the opponent's court 61-75.



Al Ittihad - Al Ahli 73-55

Everything could happen in Al Khobar at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Al Nahdha and 9th ranked Al Qadisiya had identical 2-4 record. This time Al Nahdha used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Al Khubar 75-61 on Monday night. Al Nahdha (3-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al Ahli and Al Hilal. Al Qadisiya lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Al Nahdha will face Al Khaleej (#10) in the next round. Al Qadisiya will play against Al Jubail and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Nevezis Kedainiai (LKL) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 38-year old Lithuanian coach Paulius Juodis. He coached most recently at Uhud in Saudi Arabian SBL league.
