Saudi Arabia registered the second win at the Arabian Gulf Cup in Manama. They outplayed UAE for 1-2 record. Saudi Arabia thus clinched the third position at the tournament. They sealed the ticket to the Asian Cup to be held in Lebanon next year. UAE fell at 1-3 record after the defeat.
Saudi Arabia strongly tipped off the game. They accumulated a 27:13 lead after ten minutes. UAE responded with an 18:3 run in the second frame. They denied the deficit and ensured a one-point halftime lead 30:31. Saudi Arabia came back to life in the third quarter. They held UAE to 13 points to snatch a 4-point lead at the final break. Saudi Arabia outscored their opponents in the fourth period and celebrated a crucial win at the end. Fahad Al Salik came up with 19 points to lead the winners. Jaber Kabe (184-SG-85) added 15 points for Saudi Arabia. Rashed Al Zaabi (189-G-88) answered with 24 points for UAE. Abdulla Jasim (205-C-88) netted 13 points in the losing effort.

Newly promoted Al Safa of Safwa (SBL) tabbed 25-year old American forward Shane Heyward (200-97kg-92, college: Columbus State). He played in the summer at Ostioneros de Guaymas in Mexican CIBACOPA. In 25 games he averaged 10.6ppg, 6.2rpg and 2.0bpg. Heyward helped them to make it to the semifinals. Taylor Brown (ex Real Betis) is a newcomer at Al Ahli Jeddah - 3 days ago
Al Ahli Jeddah (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 28-year old American forward Taylor Brown (200-89, college: Bradley). He was tested by Real Betis in Spanish Liga Endesa. Brown ended the last season at Lietuvos rytas in Lithuanian LKL where in 17 games he recorded 8.0ppg and 4.5rpg. Brown helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. Deangelo Kirkland (ex Uhud) agreed terms with AB Ancud - 15 days ago
Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud (Liga Nacional) inked American forward Deangelo Kirkland (203-95kg, college: Columbus State, agency: Interperformances). He played most recently at Uhud in Saudi Arabian SBL league. In 15 games he recorded very impressive stats: 22.4ppg, 13.2rpg and 2.3apg last season. Kirkland helped them to make it to the semifinals.
