Saudi Arabia U18 - Kazakhstan U18 76:65

Saudi Arabia earned the first win at the U18 Asia Championship. They held off Kazakhstan to claim the third position in Group D. Kazakhstan remained winless and would play in classification round. Nassir Abo Jalas (192-F-94) posted 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia pulled ahead early in the game. They ensured a 22:15 lead after ten minutes. Saudi Arabia maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They ensured a 44:35 halftime lead. Kazakhstan revived the intrigue in the third quarter. They cut the deficit at 2-point mark heading into the final stanza. But Saudi Arabia returned into drivers seat in the final quarter. They held their opponents to 9 points and rallied to the victory at the end. Waheed Faqihi (185-F-94) scored 18 points, while Asslam Bafarat (197-F/C-94) had 12 points for the winners. Alexey Kurochka (185-G-94) came up with 19 points for Kazakhstan. Alymzhan Maxutov (183-G-94) netted 17 points in the loss.

Mike Pero Nelson Giants (NBL) signed 26-year old American forward Curtis Washington (208-104kg-91, college: Georgia State). He played last season at Al Fateh in Saudi Arabian SBL league. The last summer Washington played at San Carlos (District National) in Dominican Rep. league. He helped them to make it to the final. Washington won UBA championship title in 2015. Uhud Medina (SBL) added to their roster American forward Deangelo Kirkland (203-95kg, college: Columbus State) from Al Ahli Jeddah. Kirkland also played earlier that season for Osorno Basquetbol in Chilean Liga Nacional where in 9 SBL games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.3ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.9spg this season. Al Hilal Riyadh (SBL) landed 29-year old American guard Terrence Joyner (190-90kg-88, college: Mississippi Valley State). He played recently at Bayangol Sentoza Irves in Mongolian Superleague. Joyner has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2012. Among other achievements his team made it to the Superleague Semifinals in 2016.
