Philippines U18 - Saudi Arabia U18 95:52

Philippines got to the winning start of their U18 Asia Championship campaign. They defeated Saudi Arabia behind 15 points from Janus Suarez.
Saudi Arabia led during the opening five minutes of the game but Philippines quickly gained control. They went on a 17:2 run to take a 23:12 lead at the first break. The margin grew at 20-point mark at halftime 49:29. Philippines maintained the pressure in the third quarter. They opened a 31-point lead at the final intermission. Philippines did not slow down in the fourth quarter and cruised to the victory at the end. Rodolfo Alejandro (175-G-95) netted 14 points, while Mario Bonleon added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Waheed Faqihi answered with 19 points for Saudi Arabia. Nassir Abo Jalas (192-F-94) had 11 points in defeat.

Nevezis Kedainiai (LKL) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 38-year old Lithuanian coach Paulius Juodis. He coached most recently at Uhud in Saudi Arabian SBL league. The previous (14-15) season Juodis coached at AVIS Rapla (Alexela KML) in Estonian league. Among other achievements he received Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Coach of the Year award back in 2010. Universo/Vitoria Salvador (NBB) tabbed 29-year old American forward Christopher Hayes (203-87, college: Detroit Mercy). He played most recently at Uhud in Saudi Arabian SBL league.
