Al-Ittihad and Al-Fath started the International Tournament-32nd GCC Clubs Basketball Championship. Both teams from Saudi Arabia however lost the major games and did not advance to the next stage.
In Day 1 Muharraq overcame Al-Fath from Saudi Arabia 89:74. The team from Bahrain started with 26:17 and added 24-15 in the second period. Al-Fath won the third quarter 27-23 but could reduce only to 15 points at the end. Chester Giles (211-F/C-85, college: Oregon St.) and Era Clark guided Muharraq to victory, scoring 20 points each. Tyler Amaya (199-F-82, college: W.Washington) and Mohammed Al Saqer replied with 21 points each in the losing effort.
On May 4th Al Wasl beat Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia 76:60. The first quarter ended 28-20 for Al Wasl, who maintained momentum to clinch a 48-27 lead at half-time. Al Wasl also won the third period 20-16 and captured the victory by 16 points.
Al-Hala edged Al Ittihad 64:60. The winners took 15:13 after the first 10 minutes and claimed a 31:27 lead at the break. Al Ittihad extended their narrow advantage to 46:43 with Al Harbi and Donald Cole (204-C/F-81, agency: Edge Sports, college: Sam Houston St.) on fire. Al-Hala however played better at the end and sealed the victory.
Tonight Al-Rayan from Qatar rolled over Al-Fath from Saudi Arabia 77:60. Al-Ittihad finished the campaign with the narrow win over Al Nizwa 78:75.

Al Wasl Dubai (D1) tabbed 31-year old American forward Travis Gabbidon (201-86, college: UTSA). He started the season at Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabian SBL league. The last season Gabbidon played at Al Shaab. Among other achievements his team made it to the ABA Semifinals in 2014. Gabbidon received also Latinbasket.com All-Mexican LNBP Honorable Mention award back in 2013. He is a very experienced player.
