22-year old point guard Marcus Johnson Jr. (180-PG-95) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Al Wakrah and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had the game-high 32 points adding six rebounds and seven assists for Al Wakrah in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Al Rayyan (#7, 1-2) with 32-point margin 96-64. Al Wakrah is placed at 4th position in Qatari league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Al Wakrah will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Johnson Jr. had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 14 attempts. He turned to be Al Wakrah's top player in his first season with the team. Marcus Johnson Jr. averages just after three games 30.7ppg and 5.3apg.

Second best performed player last round was Khobi Williamson (201-C-92) of Al Khor. He is American center in his first season at Al Khor. In the last game Williamson recorded impressive double-double of 29 points and 18 rebounds. Bad luck as Al Khor lost that game 79-84 to Al Sadd (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Williamson is a newcomer at Al Khor and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.0ppg (#8). He also registered 13.7 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of league's leader Al Arabi. Byrd showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, twelve rebounds (!!!) and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Arabi, leading his team to a 81-65 easy win against Al Shamal (#9, 0-3). Al Arabi started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Byrd turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Byrd has a great season in Qatar. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 12.0rpg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sammy Monroe (198-F-85) of Al Gharafa - 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Baden Jaxen (190-G-90) of Qatar Club - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
6. Dee Oldham (193-G-94) of Al Sadd - 30 points and 2 rebounds
7. Julius Coles (193-SG-89) of Al Sadd - 20 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Nick Stover (198-F-93) of Al Arabi - 26 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists
9. James Justice (178-PG-89) of Al Gharafa - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Mychal Ammons (198-F-92) of Al Gharafa - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
