The Regular Season in D1 just started.

Al Ahli smashed Al Shamal in Doha 90-71. Al Ahli made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Al Ahli had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Serbian-FYR Macedonian forward Nenad Zivcevic (203-87, agency: Mansfield and Associates) stepped up and scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Serbian center Nemanja Besovic (221-92) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side Mansour Elhadary responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Al Shamal will play next round against Al Wakrah trying to get back on the winning streak. Al Ahli will try to continue on its current victory against Al Rayyan. It will be extra interesting game as Al Rayyan is their local rival from Doha.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Khor (0-1) at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Al Arabi (1-0) 101-64. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winning side and William Byrd accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds for Al Khor in the defeat. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Qatar Sports Club (#7) and Al Rayyan (#5). Qatar Sports Club (1-0) crushed visiting Al Rayyan (0-1) by 17 points 95-78. Brandan Kearney fired 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Sherwood Brown produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena .

In the last game of round 1 Al Wakrah lost to Al Sadd on the opponent's court 93-102.

Al Khor - Al Arabi 64-101

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Khor (0-1) at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Al Arabi (1-0) 101-64. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al Khor's 40. It was a great shooting night for Al Arabi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winning side and swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and forward DJ Blackmon (201-90, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Al Khor in the defeat.
