Marcus Bell
American Marcus Bell (206-C-90) had a great game in the last round for Al Rayyan and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 29.
The 26-year old center had a double-double of 17 points and seventeen rebounds, while his team crushed Al Wakrah (#5, 7-11) with 23-point margin 94-71. Al Rayyan maintains the 4th position in Qatari D1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al Rayyan will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. Bell turned to be Al Rayyan's top player in his first season with the team. Cal.St.-Stanislaus graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bell is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 15.2rpg) and averages solid 1.2bpg,2.4spg and 68.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American forward Quinton Doggett (206-F-90) of Qatar Club. Doggett impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 37 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Qatar Club lost that game 82-91 to the higher-ranked Al Shamal (#6, 7-11). This loss caused Qatar Club to drop to 9th position in the standings. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just five victories Qatar Club managed to get this year. Doggett is a newcomer at Qatar Club and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.4ppg (#5). He also registered 12.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Dairese Gary (185-PG-88) of Al Khor (#10). Gary showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Gary's great performance Al Khor lost 70-79 to the higher-ranked Al Ahli (#7, 6-12). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Al Khor can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-16 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Gary he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Gary has individually a great season in Qatar. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.1ppg (7th best) and assists with 5.8apg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tanguy Ngombo (197-F-84) of Al Rayyan - 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Vernon Macklin (208-F/C-86) of El Jaysh - 27 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Reggie Hamilton (182-PG-89) of Al Shamal - 35 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Deng Deng (203-F-92) of Al Shamal - 28 points and 12 rebounds
8. Dominic James (180-PG-86) of El Jaysh - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists
9. Branko Jereminov (186-PG-87) of Al Ahli - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
10. Larry Blair (183-G-84) of Al Wakrah - 33 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
