Al Shamal tabs Reggie Hamilton, ex Niigata Albirex - Feb 8, 2017

Hamilton
Al Shamal Doha (D1) inked 28-year old American point guard Reggie Hamilton (182-80kg-89, college: Oakland, agency: Octagon Europe). He played most recently at Niigata Albirex in Japanese B League, but left the team in Feb.'16. In 6 games he averaged impressive 16.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.5apg and 1.3spg last season.
The most of previous (2014-15) season Hamilton spent at Proger BLS Chieti in Italian A2 Silver where in 14 games he had 14.4ppg, 2.2rpg and 1.6apg. He also played that season for Givova Scafati Basket (A2 Silver) in Italy. In 11 games he recorded 11.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.6apg and 1.3spg.
Among other achievements Hamilton's college team won Summit League Tournament for two years in a row (2010 and 2011). He received also USBasket.com All-NCAA D1 1st Team award and NABC Division I All-District 12 1st Team award back in 2012.
Hamilton has played also professionally in Poland (Stabill), Italy (VL Pesaro and FCM Ferentino) and D-League (Salt Lake City Stars).
He attended Oakland University until 2012 and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball.
Hamilton's game is described as: A classic combo guard player, who can spend time in 1 and 2 positions.

El Jaish and Al Gharafa will clash in the final of the Emir Cup basketball tournament after easing past their semi-final opponents yesterday. While El Jaish thrashed Al Arabi 81-55, Al Gharafa had a relatively tough match against Al Shamal before emerging 94-80 winners. Pioneros de Los Mochis (CIBACOPA) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old American guard Nick Murphy (193-98kg-88, college: Jacksonville State). He played recently at Al Gharafa in Qatari D1 league. In 2011 Murphy was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in fourth round (7th overall).
