30-year old power forward Vernon Macklin (208-F/C-86) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team El Jaysh and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had the game-high 35 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for El Jaysh in his team's victory, helping them to beat Al Shamal (#8, 2-5) 97-88. It allowed El Jaysh to consolidate first place in the Qatari league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and El Jaysh keeps a perfect 7-0 record. Macklin has many years of experience at El Jaysh, through which he has constantly improved. University of Florida graduate has very impressive stats this year. Macklin is in league's top in points (8th best: 23.7ppg), rebounds (7th best: 11.6rpg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 54.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Dominic James (180-PG-86). He is American guard in his first season at El Jaysh. In the last game James recorded impressive 31 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course El Jaysh cruised to a 97-88 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Al Shamal (#8, 2-5). Of course El Jaysh still keep the league's top spot. He plays for the best team in the league and El Jaysh managed to win all 7 games keeping a perfect record. James is a newcomer at El Jaysh and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.6ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 5.0rpg and 5.7apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Quinton Doggett (206-F-90) of Qatar Club (#5). Doggett got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . Despite Doggett's great performance Qatar Club lost 77-81 to Al Ahli (3-3). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Qatar Club needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Doggett has a great season in Qatar. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.3ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 14.0rpg (4th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
