Mohamed Haras put on an amazing game in the last round for Al Shamal and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 7.
The had a double-double of 29 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team was edged out by Al Rayyan (#3, 5-1) 100-96. Al Shamal moved-up to the 7th position in Qatari D1. Al Shamal is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 4th lost game this season out of 6 games. Haras turned to be Al Shamal's top player in his first season with the team. Haras has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 31.8ppg) and averages solid 1.5bpg and 66.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old American forward Sammy Monroe (198-F-85) of second-ranked Al Gharafa. Monroe impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course he led Al Gharafa to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Al Wakrah (#9, 1-5) 94-68. This victory allowed Al Gharafa to move up to second position in the standings. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 5 matches. Monroe is a newcomer at Al Gharafa and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.7ppg (#9). His other stats are also decent: 9.3rpg and 4.7apg. Newberry College alumni Monroe played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Dominic James (180-PG-86) of top-ranked El Jaysh. James got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . He was a key player of El Jaysh, leading his team to a 92-70 easy win against Al Khor (#10, 0-6). El Jaysh started extremely well this year. They recorded 6 victories without losing a single game. James turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. James has a great season in Qatar. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 28.2ppg (5th best) and assists with 5.7apg (5th best). He also has 4.8spg and FGP: 77.3%.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
