Mohamed Haras had an amazing evening in the last round for Al Shamal, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The player had a double-double of 36 points and 21 rebounds, while his team beat Al Khor (#10, 0-5), the league's bottom-ranked team 82-69. Al Shamal is placed at 6th position in Qatari D1. Al Shamal is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-3 record. Haras turned to be Al Shamal's top player in his first season with the team. Mohamed Haras has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 32.7ppg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg and 71.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old American Vernon Macklin (208-F/C-86) of league's leader El Jaysh. Macklin had a very good evening with 35 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led El Jaysh to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Qatar Club (#5, 3-2) 108-85. Of course El Jaysh still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Macklin is one of the most experienced players at El Jaysh and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#9). He also registered 10.8 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another El Jaysh's star - American guard Dominic James (180-PG-86). James got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. He went also for six assists. He was another key player of El Jaysh, helping his team with a 108-85 easy win against the lower-ranked Qatar Club (#5, 3-2). El Jaysh started extremely well this year. They recorded 5 victories without losing a single game. James turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. James has a great season in Qatar. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.8ppg (5th best) and assists with 6.4apg (4th best).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
