Marcel Anderson (ex Usti n/Labem) joins Al Rayyan - Dec 25, 2016

Defending champion Al Rayyan Doha (D1) agreed terms with 30-year old American point guard Marcel Anderson (183-79kg-86, college: Harris-Stowe State). He played most recently at Usti n/Labem in NBL league in Czech Republic, but left. In 6 games he had 8.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 3.3apg and 1.3spg last season.
The previous (14-15) season Anderson played at Nift Al-Janoub (Superleague) in Iraq. He helped them to make it to the semifinals.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Anderson played in the final of Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas in 2011. He was also voted USBasket.com All-PBL Defensive Player of the Year back in 2012.
Anderson has played previously professionally in PBL (Rochester RazorSharks and Chicago T.) and D-League (Erie Bay Hawks and Maine Red Claws).
He attended Harris-Stowe State until 2010 and it will be his seventh season as a professional player.

Al Gharafa - El Jaish 92-82 Al Gharafa won the 2017 Emir Cup in Qatar. In the Final game they outscored El Jaish 92-82. El Jaish and Al Gharafa will clash in the final of the Emir Cup basketball tournament after easing past their semi-final opponents yesterday. While El Jaish thrashed Al Arabi 81-55, Al Gharafa had a relatively tough match against Al Shamal before emerging 94-80 winners. Pioneros de Los Mochis (CIBACOPA) strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old American guard Nick Murphy (193-98kg-88, college: Jacksonville State). He played recently at Al Gharafa in Qatari D1 league. In 2011 Murphy was drafted by Iowa Energy (D-League) in fourth round (7th overall).
