Marcus Bell
26-year old center Marcus Bell (206-C-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Al Rayyan and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 2.
He had a double-double of 22 points and 24 rebounds, while his team outclassed Qatar Club (#5, 1-1) with 29-point margin 121-92. It allowed Al Rayyan to take over top position in the Qatari league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al Rayyan won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Bell turned to be Al Rayyan's top player in his first season with the team. Cal.St.-Stanislaus graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bell is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 17.5rpg) and averages solid 73.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Quinton Doggett (206-F-90) of Qatar Club. He is American forward in his first season at Qatar Club. In the last game Doggett recorded impressive double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Qatar Club lost that game 92-121 to Al Rayyan (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Doggett is a newcomer at Qatar Club and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.0ppg (#7). He also registered 17.0 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Qatar Club's star - guard James Justice (178-PG-89). Justice got into 30-points club by scoring 44 points in the last round. He went also for five assists. Despite Justice's great performance Qatar Club lost 92-121 to Al Rayyan (#1, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The last thing Qatar Club needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Justice has a great season in Qatar. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 34.5ppg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Olatunbo Ayeni (196-F-87) of Al Wakrah - 27 points and 19 rebounds
5. Rickey Young (205-PF-90) of Al Khor - 31 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Raymond Sykes (206-C/F-86) of Al Sadd - 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Adamu Saaka (198-SF-88) of Al Arabi - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
8. Tanguy Ngombo (197-F-84) of Al Rayyan - 26 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Moustafa Essam Fouda (174-PG-97) of Al Sadd - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Justin Tubbs (190-G-87) of Al Shamal - 28 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
