Outlook:
A strong player who can shoot the three and mid range jumpshot well and can guard smaller and larger players. Can grab lots of rebounds and has team mentality.
Coach Tucker:
"Marcus is a tireless worker who gets everything he can out of his ability. He is played mainly at the small foward position but can easily switch over to power forward and guard bigger defenders. With great cour awareness, rebounding ability and an exceptional shot from three point range and closer, he has the makings for a great all-around basketball player who can fit on any roster. He is very coachable, and above everything else he is a great, fun loving, teamate who is liked by everyone he meets."

I remember seeing a chubby boy 22 years ago that would love to follow is older brother to parks and gyms but never had the pure athletic ability to play the game of basketball, yet he loved to play. This kid would seek every opportunity to play basketball that he could. There were many around him who people would always regard as better but this young boy took every opportunity he had to sign up in a camp or play out in his driveway until 3 and 4 in the morning with his cousins and older brother. You see while everyone else saw the game of Basketball as something to do because they were naturally good at it, this young kid saw it as a dream. This young kid was me. From following my older brother and his friends to gyms and playgrounds to seeking the competition on my own, this was something that only God knew I kept in my heart as a primary goal in life. My faith has been a large part of my pursuit of this sport. Honestly, I still dont see myself as your typical professional basketball player because I know that I am far from the best around. But what always seem to propel me is that I have an extreme work ethic and an extreme faith in God to complete any task or to achieve any goal. Like many men playing this sport, we have been doing it our entire lives so many people dont understand the attachment but its real. I stand here today a testament of someone who didnt have the natural ability but through prayer and hard work was able to achieve the goals he set forth in his life, no mature how minute they may seem to someone else. My definition of success is if you are satisfied with where you are in life and are you able to positively help others and affect their lives. By this definition I feel that I am the most successful man in the world and that God for every opportunity I have ever had to dribble a ball down a court and earn pay from it. God has allowed me to see some great wonders throughout traveling the world and has afforded me to meet some wonderful people. The two greatest things Ive picked up along this journey are my salvation and my wife. To anyone out there, any young kid without the ability, or kid finishing high school or college, all you have to do is trust in God and in the ability you have within. Develop a good work ethic and work harder than anyone else around you. Believe in what you can do and the sky is the limit. AND ALWAYS REMEMBER, BASKETBALL IS A STEPPING STONE IN REACHING THE PEAK OF LIFES SUMMIT. Till next time, Peace to all and God Bless.

Off Season Free Agent Job Search- Jun.30, 2010 (by Marcus)
Hello All,
Now is one of the most difficult times of the year. Many players are back home right now and like myself, working out in hopes to sign a new deal for the upcoming season. Hello All,
Now is one of the most difficult times of the year. Many players are back home right now and like myself, working out in hopes to sign a new deal for the upcoming season. I am positive that something good will come up, at the same time i do know how hard the job market is right about now due to the domino affect world economy. Last season many teams were downsizing and i, myself, opted to stay at home and teach for a year, turning down certain opportunities to play. I had to go with what would benefit my family most and thats where having a good education plays an important role in life. So i did just that until an end of the season opportunity in Qatar came up that was seemingly a good, short term move, for me and my family also helping me to keep my resume alive. But hey, this is the nature of the Beast, and i know that with God on my side, my steps are ordered and great things will happen. So im back on the chopping block and getting ready for next season if any teams, GMs or Coaches are out there. Just shoot me an email or something.
As for everyone else reading, this is the life of a basketball player int the off season, work out, some of us work other jobs, start businesses and search for the next chapter in our careers. And if anyone wants to get better over the summer my suggestion would be to move to Houston, this is where all the real balling takes place, lol, but im serious. TIll Next Time, Take Care and God Bless Sesh
Life in Qatar with an Unprofessional Club (Al Ahli)- May.2, 2010 (by Marcus)
Well, what I can say besides Im glad to be home. Who would have ever thought a team could just keep you in their country stranded, and refuse to reply to any type of contact you make towards them in regards to payment and being sent home. I mean, what kind of mentality says that you dont have to respond when agents and players are trying to contact you. Well to any of my fellow players, if you plan on playing for Al Ahli Sports club in Qatar anytime soon, plan to make other arrangements. I dont know if this is just a Qatari mindset but as long as they need your services they are very good at responding, but once its time to fulfill their end of the bargain, they happen to disappear into thin air. This was my experience the last few weeks there. A totally unprofessional manager was Khaled Abdulla. They didnt pay me all of what they owed me, and still havent paid nor responded to my agent. But its not a money issue with me, its an issue of integrity and professionalism. And in this profession, I would advise anyone not to play for this team. When i left, there were still 2 other imports from Africa that were still unpaid and being lied to. This showed absolutely no consideration for other people and their lives.
Anyways, other than that, i had a great time meeting fascinating people, such as my teammates, players from other teams, and people around the city of Doha. Doha is a beautiful city, but theres no place like home in Houston TX. On my daily walks I would encounter a unique blend of Arabic, Indian and Filipino culture. Kids would always come up to me and say 'whats up dude though it sounded broken up, I feel the young fellas. One little boy asked me if I knew Akon, lol. The staff at the Doha Mall Chilis came to know me quite well as I would go there night after night and eat the same meal, which they pre-made, while watching NBA playoff games a day later than everyone in the USA saw them. One thing that never changed was my sleep pattern though. Doha is 8 hours ahead of Houston time and I would go to bed at 7am every morning. Basketball in Qatar was ok. There were some god players on every team, but I think the league would be a lot more competitive if two imports were allowed on each team for the whole season. Overall it was a good trip, decent experience other than dealing with and unprofessional club. And dont get me wrong the bad experience with the club wasnt a total loss for me. I had lots of time to read some books that serve to help me become a better Husband, Friend, Player, Mentor, Son, Father and Citizen. So I guess it was something I really needed, time to get away, and lots of forced free time, because my wife can tell you that although highly educated, I HATE to read. But when left with no other choice or option, its amazing what God can bring out of a person. Till Next time, take Care and God Bless Sesh
