American Tyvon Williams (182-PG-87) had an amazing evening in the last round for Al Shamal and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16.
The 25-year old playmaker got a double-double of 25 points and eleven assists, while his team crushed Al Ahli (#9, 1-13) with 16-point margin 82-66. Al Shamal is placed at 7th position in Qatari D1. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Al Shamal have already lost 11 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Williams had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Shamal's top player in his first season with the team. South Carolina State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Williams is in league's top in assists (2nd best: 6.3apg) and averages solid 2.1spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Al Shamal's star - 24-year old Nigerian guard Mezie Nwigwe (193-G-88). Nwigwe impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Of course together with Williams he helped Al Shamal with another comfortable win 82-66 over slightly lower-ranked Al Ahli (#9, 1-13) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Al Shamal to move up to 7th position in the standings. 11 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Al Shamal managed to get this year. Nwigwe is a newcomer at Al Shamal and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.9ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 6.5rpg and 4.3apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Michael Southall (210-C-82) of second-ranked Al Sadd. Southall showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Al Sadd, leading his team to a 80-51 easy win against the lower-ranked Qatar (#8, 3-11). Al Sadd needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 3 lost games. Southall has a great season in Qatar. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.8rpg (6th best). He also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 62.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Manny Adako (203-F-87) of Al Gharafa - 18 points and 7 rebounds
5. William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of Al Arabi - 19 points and 10 rebounds
6. Omar Salem (190-G) of Al Gharafa - 17 points and 10 rebounds
7. Fadi Hani Abilmoni (184-PG) of Al Jaysh - 29 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Lyvann Obame (201-F/C) of Al Shamal - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Gaston Moliva (202-F-85) of Qatar - 16 points and 8 rebounds
10. Abdulrahman Saad (192-F/G-85) of Al Sadd - 21 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
