Mofunanya
25-year old forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-F-87, agency: Dream Team Management) had a great game in the last round for Al Arabi and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14.
He had a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Al Shamal (#8, 2-10) with 26-point margin 80-54. Al Arabi maintains the 4th position in Qatari league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Al Arabi will need more victories to improve their 9-3 record. It's Mofunanya's second year at Al Arabi and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Fairleigh Dickinson University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Mofunanya is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 14.3rpg).

Second best performed player last round was Chauncey Leslie (183-G/F-81) of Qatar. He is American swingman in his first season at Qatar. In the last game Leslie recorded impressive 34 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Qatar lost that game 75-87 to the higher-ranked Al Rayyan (#1, 10-2). Qatar is still second from the bottom in the standings. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Qatar managed to get this year. Leslie is a newcomer at Qatar and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.7ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.5rpg and 5.3apg.

Third place about best performers goes to another Qatar's star - Oumar Seck. Seck scored 17 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Seck's great performance Qatar lost 75-87 to the higher-ranked Al Rayyan (#1, 10-2). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. Qatar can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Seck he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Seck has individually a great season in Qatar. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.9ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 16.4rpg (#1 in league). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 51.2%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Manny Adako (203-F-87) of Al Gharafa - 11 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
5. William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of Al Arabi - 13 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Boney Watson (183-PG-78) of Al Rayyan - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Ibou Gueye Sarr (204-F-83) of Al Ahli - 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Rasheim Wright (192-G-81) of Al Gharafa - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Mohammed Yousef (204-C-82) of Al Jaysh - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Yasseen Ismail Musa (204-F/C-80) of Al Rayyan - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
