Al Jaysh Army SC Doha (D1) signed 25-year old Cameroonian ex-international forward Steve Tchiengang (205-98kg-88, college: Vanderbilt). He already started the season at Santa Cruz Warriors (D-League) in the U.S.. The last season Tchiengang played at Vanderbilt University in Southeastern Conference in the NCAA. In 35 games last year he had 3.4ppg and 3.3rpg. He helped them to win SEC Tournament.
Last year Tchiengang was drafted by Santa Cruz Warriors (D-League) in fifth round (77th overall).
The former Vanderbilt University staris in his first season in pro basketball. He was also selected to prestigious Basketball Without Borders South African Camp back in 2004, where top African players were invited. It opened him possibility to start career in the U.S.
Tchiengang could be described: 69 forward who is a physical presence around the basket who can step out and hit a perimeter jumpshot to keep defenses honest.

26-year old center Marcus Bell (206-C-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Al Rayyan and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 2. He had a double-double of 22 points and 24 rebounds, while his team outclassed Qatar Club (#5, 1-1) with 29-point margin 121-92. It allowed Al Rayyan to take over top position in the Qatari league. There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in D1. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Shamal (0-1) on the court of Al Wakrah on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Al Wakrah 78-69. Al Wakrah (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old American guard Larry Williams (191-88kg-86, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff). In his first game he scored 23 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and 4 assists helping his new team beat Al Shamal 78-69.
