International forward Baker Ahmad Mohammed (199-F-86) had a great game in the last round for Al Jaysh and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 26-year old forward had the game-high 31 points adding nine rebounds for Al Jaysh in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Qatar (#6, 3-5) 77-76. Al Jaysh is placed at 3rd position in Qatari D1. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Al Jaysh will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. In the team's last game Ahmad Mohammed had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Al Jaysh, through which he has constantly improved. Baker Ahmad Mohammed averages this season 17.1ppg, 7.1rpg and 4.1apg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American forward Kayode Ayeni (196-F-87) of Al Wakrah. Ayeni impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Al Wakrah to edge slightly higher-ranked Al Ahli (1-7) by 4 points 65-61. Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Al Wakrah managed to get this year. Ayeni is a newcomer at Al Wakrah and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#4). He also registered 13.3 boards per game. St.Francis College (NY) alumni Ayeni played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Michael Southall (210-C-82) of second-ranked Al Sadd. Southall scored 19 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite Southall's great performance Al Sadd lost 63-79 to #1 ranked Al Rayyan. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Al Sadd had another "accident". It may be a crucial game and cause dropping from the group of top ranked teams. The record is still good, but 1st lost game is hopefully really an accident. Southall's teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Southall has a very solid season. In 7 games in Qatar he scored 13.6ppg. He also has 8.9rpg, 2.6bpg and FGP: 62.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ibou Gueye Sarr (204-F-83) of Al Ahli - 30 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Chauncey Leslie (183-G/F-81) of Qatar - 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Mezie Nwigwe (193-G-88) of Al Shamal - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Boney Watson (183-PG-78) of Al Rayyan - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
8. Omar Abdelkader (206-C-83) of Al Gharafa - 24 points and 9 rebounds
9. Tanguy Ngombo (197-F-84) of Al Rayyan - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Hashem Zaidan (211-C-80) of Al Ahli - 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
