Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) added to their roster 34-year old American guard Darren Kelly (195-78, college: Texas). He played last season at Al Wakrah in Qatari D1 league. In 12 games last year he had very impressive stats: 15.1ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg. Kelly also played at Al Wakrah in D1 the previous (10-11) year. Part of last season he spent at Al Ittihad, where in 7 games of Asian Club Championships he scored 17.1ppg and added 3.0rpg and 4.3apg. The other team Kelly played shortly was Al Ahli in Saudi Arabian Premier League.
In 2001 he was drafted by Kansas Cagerz (USBL) in first round (8th overall).
Kelly attended University of Texas and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
His team won Dubai International Tournament in 2011.
Kelly was also voted Asia-Basket.com All-Arab Club Championships 1st Team in 2010.
He is quite experienced player. Kelly has played also professionally in Cyprus, Greece, Italy (Pavia and Aget Service Imola), Latvia, Lebanon (Al Moutahed), Poland (Slask Wroclaw) and Egypt (Somouha).

32-year old forward Sammy Monroe (198-F-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Al Gharafa and receives a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. He had a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Shamal (#9, 0-6) with 19-point margin 101-82. The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss ofAl Arabi (4-1) in Doha on Tuesday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Qatar Sports Club (4-1) 73-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Arabi. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Qatar Sports Club made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Satria Muda Pertamina Jakarta (IBL) landed 33-year old American point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga). He made his comeback on basketball court after two year break. The last time (14-15) he played at Al Khor in Qatari D1 league. Among other achievements Bridgewaters' team made it to the African Champions Cup final in 2013.
