Al Ahly Cairo (Superleague) added to their roster 34-year old American guard Darren Kelly (195-78, college: Texas). He played last season at Al Wakrah in Qatari D1 league. In 12 games last year he had very impressive stats: 15.1ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg. Kelly also played at Al Wakrah in D1 the previous (10-11) year. Part of last season he spent at Al Ittihad, where in 7 games of Asian Club Championships he scored 17.1ppg and added 3.0rpg and 4.3apg. The other team Kelly played shortly was Al Ahli in Saudi Arabian Premier League.
In 2001 he was drafted by Kansas Cagerz (USBL) in first round (8th overall).
Kelly attended University of Texas and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
His team won Dubai International Tournament in 2011.
Kelly was also voted All-Arab Club Championships 1st Team in 2010.
He is quite experienced player. Kelly has played also professionally in Cyprus, Greece, Italy (Pavia and Aget Service Imola), Latvia, Lebanon (Al Moutahed), Poland (Slask Wroclaw) and Egypt (Somouha).

Michael Taylor gets MVP of the Week award for Qatari D1 - 11 hours ago

American Michael Taylor (186-G-86) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Al Gharafa and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 30-year old guard had the game-high 41 points adding six rebounds and eight assists for Al Gharafa in his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Khor (#9, 0-1) with 22-point margin 90-68.

D1 Round 1 of Regular Season - 1 day ago

The Regular Season in D1 just started. The biggest surprise of round 1 in D1 took place in Doha where host Al Rayyan (1-0) beat Al Ahli (0-1) 93-75 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Al Rayyan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Al Rayyan outrebounded Al Ahli 49-28 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Sadd Sports Club Doha (D1) signed 30-year old American power forward Raymond Sykes (206-100kg-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports). In his first game he scored 18 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Despite his good performance his new team lost to Qatar Club 72-74. He played last season at Hapoel Beer Sheva in Israeli National League. Sykes managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year.
