Oumar Seck
Senegalese Oumar Seck put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Qatar, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 8.
The -year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 17 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Wakrah (#9, 0-7) with 20-point margin 98-78. Qatar maintains the 6th position in Qatari D1. Qatar is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. It's Seck's second year at Qatar and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Oumar Seck has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.8ppg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg and 51.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Kayode Ayeni (196-F-87) of Al Wakrah. Ayeni had a very good evening with a double-double of 33 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Al Wakrah lost that game 78-98 to the higher-ranked Qatar (#6, 3-4). Al Wakrah are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Ayeni is a newcomer at Al Wakrah, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.0ppg (#3). He also registered 13.3 boards per game. Former St.Francis College (NY) star Ayeni is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Qatar's star - American swingman Chauncey Leslie (183-G/F-81). Leslie got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds and six assists. He was another key player of Qatar, helping his team with a 98-78 easy win against Al Wakrah (#9, 0-7). The chances of Qatar ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 4 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Leslie could help Qatar to bring them higher in the standings. Leslie has a great season in Qatar. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.3ppg (2nd best) and assists with 5.7apg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gaston Moliva (202-F-85) of Qatar - 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
5. William Byrd (201-G/F-85) of Al Arabi - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Abdulai Jalloh (188-G-86) of Al Arabi - 29 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Yasseen Ismail Musa (204-F/C-80) of Al Rayyan - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Ousseynou N'Diaye (196-G/F-85) of Al Gharafa - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Youla Mohammed) of Al Ahli - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Boney Watson (183-PG-78) of Al Rayyan - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 11 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
