QBF Qatar Mens League Day 13 Games Results - 23 November 2012 El Jaish put one over Al Arabi, Rayyan keep streak Alioune Ndoye (199-F-86) hit an outside bomb that gave El Jaish back the upper hand and made a crucial put back in the dying seconds to pull El Jaish up to a pulsating 73-71 victory over arch rival Al Arabi last night in the Qatar Mens League at the Al Gharafa Indoor Arena. With El Jaish trailing at 68-70, Ndoye sank a trey to lift his team back in the drivers seat with 1:35 left in the game, and a couple of plays later with game clock winding down to 12 seconds, sealed the win with a follow-up against a phalanx of defenders on a team mates missed attempt. Arabi missed their chance to pull through muffing three of four crucial free throws in the endgame. A highly-charged physical battle from tip-off, Al Arabi took the starting period, 25-18. El Jaish unleashed a suffocating defense in the second quarter to come to within a basket, 36-34, before Al Arabi arrested the surge and hang on to a 40-34 advantage before the teams headed for the mid-game showers. The Heir Apparent champions put on a 6-2 run led by the relentless Jalloh Abdullah at the onset of the third to up their lead to 46-36 but Mohammad Bakir and Fadi Abilmona combined for a 12-4 retaliation to keep Army breathing down at Arabis neck, 50-48, 4:09 left in the period. It was toe-to-toe between the clubs thereon, with El Jaish able to wrest the lead a couple of times before Jalloh and company managed to keep a hairline 56-55 advantage after 30 minutes of play. With their swarming defense clicking once more and Bakir and Ndoye banging the boards, Army took command early in the fourth quarter, and held on to a 66-62 lead with 3:54 to play. Mansour Elhadary then took the floor and ignited an 8-2 surge to give Arabi back the lead at 70-68, before Ndoye starred in a 5-1 wind up to give Army their fifth win in 7 outings, and a tie for second place in the standings with Al Arabi. Later in the evening, defending champions Al Rayyan escaped with a 65-62 hard-earned victory over Al Gharafa to raise their streak to 6 straight wins. The defending champions fell prey early to Al Gharafas intense offensive as they trailed, 20-21, after ten minutes of play and 20-26 early in the second period. From this stage, Al Rayyan played harder on defense and uncorked a 13-3 offensive to wrest the upper hand, 33-29, Gharafa, with Omar Salem at the helm, fought back to equalize at 33-all but the defending champions managed to stay ahead 37-36, before the half time break. Spitfire Boney Harold Watson took command of the Rayyan offensive at the start of the third period and pumped his team to an early 46-41 advantage before Coach Koussay Hatems charges grabbed the upper hand at 47-46 with a 6-0 run. Rayyan answered with a 5-0 flurry in the next possessions to regain the lead, 51-47 but Gharafa fought back hard to cap the period with a 7-2 assault and keep a 54-53 advantage before the start of the final canto. Emanuel Awako sank a twinner after muffing three put back in succession and Salem scored unmolested inside to give Gharafa a 60-55 advantage midway in the fourth period. The blue shirts kept the pressure on Coach Brian Rowsoms men in the pay-off period but groped for points on the other end as ace-gunner Targuy Ngombo went to work and scattered 6 straight markers to put Rayyan ahead 61-60, with 2:23 left to play. After a basket from each side, Gharafa held back possession but failed to capitalize as Ngombo cashed-in on a pair of gift shots on the other end to help Rayyan stay on top, 65-62, with 6 ticks left. Meanwhile, Batang Isarog prevailed over the Jewelers, 95-89, in the Pinoy Basketball Qatar (PBAQ) League game which was featured in between the QML matches. Former MVP and lanky center-forward Rodel Mallari (F-77), came out with a sizzling 45-point output to steamroll his team to their second win in three outings in Division 1 of the PBAQ Subaru Cup 2012. The Jewelers, who were led by Bryan Tolentino and Willie Layag, with 26 and 23 points respectively, succumbed to their fourth defeat. QML games continue tomorrow (Sunday) as Al Shamal and Qatar Sports Club, both at 1-4, try to improve their standing when they battle each other at 5:00 pm while Al Sadd go for their sixth straight win against a beleaguered Al Ahli in the main game. Leslie was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Guard of the Year back in 2007. He is quite experienced player. Leslie has played also professionally in Austria, France (JA Vichy), Germany (New Yorker Phantoms and Mitteldeutscher BC), Syria (Al Karameh), UAE, Hungary (Kormend), Egypt (Al Ittihad and Sporting) and United Arab Emirates (An Nasr and Sharjah). He attended University of Iowa until 2003 and it is his tenth season as a professional player. On Leslie: His big physical presence on court, coupled with his ability to play on wing positions, makes him a dangerous proposition. Possessing quickness and sharp-shooting abilities, his defensive skills are also outstanding.

The last (2011) season Cage played at Hoops Club (Division A) in Lebanese league. In 26 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 22.8ppg and had 3.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to PMA Basketball Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention. He is a very experienced player. Cage has played also professionally in Cyprus, Iraq (Duhok), Iran (BEEM), Mexico (Halcones Rojos), Philippines (Global Port), Saudi Arabia (Uhud) and Lebanon (Feytroun). Al Sadd triumphs at Arabian Gulf Basketball Clubs Championship 2013. The team from Qatar lost only one game at the campaign and sealed the title.
The team from Qatar started the tournament with the win against Kazma from Kuwait 73:55. In Day 2 Uhud from Saudi Arabia overcame Al Sadd 92:89. The latter finished the group with 2-1 record on the first place after a 89:73 win over ahli sadab from Oman.
