El Jaish uncorked their vaunted offensive in the second half and coasted to an 82-50 romp of Al Ahli Sports Club to notch their first win last night in the main game of the Qatar Mens League at the Al Rayyan Indoor Sports Arena.

El Jaish got off to a rousing start behind the duo of Fadi Abilmona and Mohammed Baker and took the first quarter, 22-14.

Al Ahli stormed back as Sameer Mohammed waxed hot from the outside to threaten El Jaish, 28-26, midway in the second period.

El Jaish sped up the tempo and rolled out 10 unanswered points to soar ahead at 38-26 before wrapping up the first 20 minutes of the game with an 8-3 run to post a commanding 46-29 lead before the break.

Ryan Synord Brock tried to pull Al Ahli back into contention in the third period to no avail as Baker and company kept pounding the hoops and capped the period farther away at 69-43.

Meanwhile Al Gharafa notched their first win in the conference with a 63-52 romp of Wakrah earlier in the night. Coach Koussay Hatems charges had the game under control from start to finish, leading at one point in the game by as much as 18 before coasting along to an 11-point win.

Oussey Nou Ndiaye led Gharafas offensive with 20 points while team mate Emanuel Awako registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

League games resume at Al Rayyan Indoor Arena on Tuesday with defending champions Al Rayyan testing league debutants Al Shamal at 5:00 pm while opening day winner Al Sadd aim for their second win when they pit wares with Al Wakrah in the main game.
