Qatar - Saudi Arabia 66:60

Qatar opened their title defence at Arabian Gulf Cup in Manama with victory. They overcame Saudi Arabia for initial victory. Qatar stayed well control of the game. They recorded a 43:31 halftime lead. Saudi Arabia cut the deficit to 7 points heading into the fourth frame. The Saudis managed to outscore their opponents in the fourth frame but stopped short of victory at the end. Saudi Arabia suffered the second loss in as many games played at the tournament. Qatar will take on UAE on Wednesday, while Saudi Arabia will take two days off before facing UAE on Thursday.

American Forward Nick Stover (198-F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Al Arabi, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 16. The 24-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed Al Wakrah (#4, 9-6) with 26-point margin 97-71. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Al Gharafa (12-2) in Doha on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Al Sadd (8-6) 83-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Al Gharafa. 23-year old guard Dee Oldham (193-G-94) had a very impressive game in the last round for Al Sadd and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 15. He had the game-high 37 points adding eight rebounds and five assists for Al Sadd in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Al Khor (#7, 3-11) with 30-point margin 95-65.
