Iran earned the second win at the Fiba Asia Cup. They needed overtime to defeat pesky Qatar for 2-0 record in Group B. Samad Nik Khahbahrami (198-F-83) posted 27 points to lead the winning side.
Qatar silenced Iran in the opening frame. They went on a 23:12 run to take a comfortable lead. Qatar boosted the lead in the second quarter. They accumulated a 45:26 halftime advantage. But Iran turned things upside down in the second half. They held Qatar to 6 points in the third frame to narrow the gap at 4-point mark. Iran surged ahead for a 64:57 lead with just over three minutes remaining in regulation. But Daoud Mousa (193-G-82) and Mansour Atif (177-PG-90) drew things level at 69 at the end of normal time. Iran fired 16 points in the extra period and eked out a sweat-breaking victory at the end. Hamed Afagh (190-SG-83) accounted for 18 points, while Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-C/F-88) added 11 points in the win. Mansour Atif responded with 21 points for Qatar. Daoud Mousa contributed 16 points in the loss.

Qatar win Asian Championships - 21 hours ago

Qatar yesterday won the second edition of the FIBA 3x3 U18 Asian basketball championships in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Reigning U18 3x3 world champs Qatar remained undefeated in the tournament and capped their fine run with a 21-9 defeat of the Philippines in the final. Al Arabi Club Doha (D1) tabbed 29-year old American (has also Nigerian passport) power forward Manny Adako (203-109kg-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) from Al Sadd. He helped them to win the cup and make to league final. Adako also played for Al Gharafa that season where in 21 D1 games he averaged impressive 15.6ppg, 8.8rpg and 1.5apg last season.
