By Danotzki Santos/Doha El Jaish unleashed a pestering trapping defence late in the first quarter onto the third period en route to an 85-71 shocking dethronement of defending champions Al Gharafa last night in HH the Heir Apparent Cup. Fadi Abilmona and Baker Mohamed took centre stage and combined well to lead their team to the final where they will clash with Al Arabi who upset Al Rayyan in the first game. Fadi delivered 21 points and collared 5 rebounds aside from taking command of his teams dominance over their rivals on the defensive end. Baker contributed a high game-high 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for another stellar performance. Coach Erik Rashad banked on his awesome duo and drew the best out of his bench to masterfully unseat the defending champions. Earlier in the other semifinal match Al Arabi cashed-in 8 of their last points off desperation fouls in the dying seconds of the ball game to stun favorites Al Rayyan, 88-80. Jalloh Abdullah played superb and steady basketball, scoring 22 points and 7 assists aside to lead his team to a surprising yet convincing win over tournament favorite Al Rayyan. Trailing 60-66 at the end of the third quarter, Abdullah waxed hot at the beginning of the final period and led an 11-2 uprising to push Al Arabi ahead, 71-68, before sitting it out after committing his fourth foul with more than five minutes remaining in the ball game. Alvin Mofunanya took the cudgels from Abdullah at this point and combined with William Byrd to keep Al Arabi in the lead, 76-73, entering the final minutes of the game.Jalloh came back and resumed his game-long juggernaut, scoring on successive outside bombs to keep them ahead, 81-75 and douse their rivals last ditch stand. At this stage, Coach Brian Rowsoms wards played catch up basketball, muffing consecutive opportunities to the basket and committing desperation fouls on the defensive end. Al Arabi took the first quarter, 17-16 but Tanguy Ngombo (197-F-84), Yaseen Mousa and Chauncey Leslie combined well to push the QML champions to a 43-41 advantage before the break. Coach Rowsom fielded Hardin back in the game in the third and made life in the shaded area difficult for Mofunanya and Byrd while Leslie and Ngombo kept puncturing the hoops on the offensive end to keep Al Rayyan on top at the end of the third canto. Hereon Abdullahs splendid performance took the limelight as Ngombo and company watched in awe. El Jaish and Al Arabi clash today at 6:30 pm in the winner-take-all championship match at the Al Gharafa Indoor Arena. The last (2011) season Cage played at Hoops Club (Division A) in Lebanese league. In 26 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 22.8ppg and had 3.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to PMA Basketball Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention. He is a very experienced player. Cage has played also professionally in Cyprus, Iraq (Duhok), Iran (BEEM), Mexico (Halcones Rojos), Philippines (Global Port), Saudi Arabia (Uhud) and Lebanon (Feytroun). He attended University of Buffalo until 2006 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. The scouts decsribe him following way:

Al Sadd triumphs at Arabian Gulf Basketball Clubs Championship 2013. The team from Qatar lost only one game at the campaign and sealed the title.
The team from Qatar started the tournament with the win against Kazma from Kuwait 73:55. In Day 2 Uhud from Saudi Arabia overcame Al Sadd 92:89. The latter finished the group with 2-1 record on the first place after a 89:73 win over ahli sadab from Oman.

In 7 games he averaged 4.0ppg, 1.0rpg and 1.6apg. In 2007 Johnson was drafted by Jackson Wildcats (USBL) as #4 pick overall. He attended Jackson State and it is his sixth season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as Johnson won NBA Pacific Division championship title in 2011. He was also voted Gatorade All-D-League 1st Team in 2011. Johnson represented Qatar at the FIBA Asia Cup in Tokyo (Japan) last year. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 4 games: Score-3 (17.3ppg), 5.3rpg, Assists-3 (4.3apg), FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 25.0%, FT: 77.3%. Johnson is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in France, Serbia (Vrsac), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, LA Lakers and Toronto Raptors) and MBEL (Jackson Jam). The scouts decsribe him following way:
A powerful SG, with great scoring skills. He can score almost from everywhere on the court, but has a great touch around the basket, where he can easily go thanks to great athletic skills.
