Aces trades Abueva to Fuel Masters - Aug 8, 2018

The Alaska Aces traded volatile forward Calvin Abueva (190-F-88) to the Phoenix Fuel Masters in exchange for a 2019 first round draft pick and guard Karl Dehesa (188-G-87, college: Waldorf).

The trade ended months of speculations that the forward will be shipped to another team following the Aces decision to suspend Abueva indefinitely after going AWOL supposedly due to a personal crisis.

The 'Beast', drafted by the Aces second overall behind June Mar Fajardo (210-C-89) in the 2012 Rookie Draft, won a championship with Alaska in 2013 to go along with a Best Player of the Conference award in 2016, two Mythical First Team selections and a perennial All-Star in six seasons with the team.

The new environment gives Abueva a fresh start as he will be playing under coach Louie Alas, a former assistant coach with the Aces.

Go for Gold levels Finals series behind Banal's hot shooting - 1 day ago
Gab Banal waxed hot from the floor as Go for Gold scorched Che'Lu, 105-81, to level the PBA D-League Foundation Cup championship series at one game apiece Tuesday at Ynares Sports Center in Pasig. Banal mocked every defense thrown at him, missing just one of his eight attempts from beyond the arc en route to 33 points that powered the Scratchers to victory. 'That's really the strength of this team. I wanted a team that shoots threes a lot, like the Houston Rockets and today, we hit our sh...   [read more]

Meralco slips past Columbian in PBA Govs' Cup opener - 1 day ago
Meralco survived a fiesty Columbian side, 109-106, in the opening day of the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup Friday Ynares Center here. With import Allen Durham (198-F/C-88, college: Grace Bible) in tow for the third straight year, the Bolts' title bid is off to a good start. They are looking to bounce back from the two finals losses against Ginebra in 2016 and 2017. Meralco and Columbian were embroiled in an intense back-and-forth in the fourth quarter that saw three ties and six lead changes in...   [read more]

THE Philippine Basketball Association-powered national team got its 18th Asian Games campaign to a good start on Thursday, defeating Kazakhstan, 96-59, in their preliminary Group D match at the Gelora Bung Karno Basketball Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia. Got off to a strong start, the Philippine team just built on it the rest of the way, with a balanced and aggressive attack, to hold off the Kazakhs en route to the win. Gabe Norwood (196-G/F-85, college: George Mason), Stanley Pringle (184-PG...   [read more]
