PBA Coach being recommended for Knicks staff - Apr 18, 2017

Tim Cone
The name of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings coach Tim Cone was being floated to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) New York Knicks president Phil Jackson to be part of the teams' coaching staff.

The most accomplished coach in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) with 19 titles under his belt including two grand slams was recommended by American sportswriter and book author Ronald Lazenby to the Knicks due to his deep understanding of running the Triangle (Triple Post) Offense, a system used by Jackson during his Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers championships.

The Knicks went into another losing season, their fourth straight, after finishing the season with a 31-51 win-loss record and failing to advance in the playoffs despite having a roster of former all-stars that included Carmelo Anthony (203-SF-84, college: Syracuse), Derrick Rose (190-G-88, college: Memphis), Joakim Noah (211-F/C-85, college: Florida) and sophomore Kristaps Porzingis (221-C/F-95).

News that Cone will graciously decline in case that there will be an offer in the table.

Mindanao All Star humbles Smart RP Team - 3 days ago
The PBA Mindanao All Stars pulled a surprise in Cagayan de Oro last year in fighting Gilas Pilipinas to a tie. They followed it up with a more memorable feat in upsetting Smart National Team, 144-130, in the kickoff leg of the 2018 PBA All-Star Extravaganza at the Davao del Sur Sports Center here Wednesday night. Baser Amer (180-PG-92) and his teammates effectively neutralized Team Phl's height advantage with their quickness and torrid shooting, and dealt the Nationals a tremendous beatin...   [read more]
