It was Friday the 13th in the 2016-2017 PBA Philippine Cup, but that did not dampen the atmosphere as GlobalPort and San Miguel Beer both notched victories.

Game Capsules:

GLOBALPORT BATANG PIER over NLEX ROAD WARRIORS, 110-96
The GlobalPort Batang Pier got a huge performance from Terrence Romeo early before cruising late to record a 110-96 victory over the NLEX Road Warriors in the Oppo PBA Philippine Cup on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Romeo scored 32 points - 22 of those coming in the first half - while Stanley Pringle took over late to finish with 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists for GlobalPort, which improved to 5-3 after a second straight win.

Romeo hit eight three-pointers on 15 attempts while also dishing out four assists. He shot 52-percent from the field and 53-percent from beyond the arc in a huge offensive showing.

JR Quinahan added 18 points and seven rebounds while Papot Paredes chipped in with 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting from the field.

Fajardo, the reigning three-time PBA MVP, dominated for 25 points and 17 rebounds in the win. He shot 9-for-12 (75-percent) from the field and scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead his team.

Charles Rhodes gets MVP of the Week award for Filipino PBA - 3 days ago
Experienced American Charles Rhodes (203-F/C-85) had a very impressive game in the last round for SM Beermen and that's him to receive a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. The 31-year old power forward had a double-double of 20 points and eighteen rebounds, while his team outclassed Mahindra (#11, 1-6) with 29-point margin 109-80. SM Beermen is placed at 7th position in Filipino PBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this seas...   [read more]

PBA Coach being recommended for Knicks staff - 5 days ago
The name of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings coach Tim Cone was being floated to the National Basketball Association's (NBA) New York Knicks president Phil Jackson to be part of the teams' coaching staff. The most accomplished coach in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) with 19 titles under his belt including two grand slams was recommended by American sportswriter and book author Ronald Lazenby to the Knicks due to his deep understanding of running the Triangle (Triple Post) O...   [read more]

Greg Smith
Smith number one in Philippines for round 4 - 9 days ago
American Center Greg Smith (208-C-91) had a great game in the last round for Blackwater, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 4. The 25-year old player had a double-double of 40 points and 19 rebounds, while his team beat Globalport (1-4) 118-113. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Blackwater is placed at 9th position in Filipino PBA. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such...   [read more]
