Douthit
Hanoi Buffalos (VBA) landed experienced 37-year old American (has also Filipino passport) power forward Marcus Douthit (210-113kg-80, college: Providence). played recently at Blackwater in Filipino PBA league. Douthit missed last season and had one year break from professional basketball.
In 2004 Adirondack Wildcats selected him as fourth overall pick in USBL draft.
Douthit attended Providence College and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements his team was regular season runner-up in PBA Commissioner's Cup in 2011. Douthit received also Asia-Basket.com All-PBA Commissioner's Cup Honorable Mention award in 2012 and 2015.
He represented Philippines at the SEA Games in Singapore (Singapore) two years ago. Douthit's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 3 games: 6.0ppg, 6.7rpg, 1.0apg, FGP-1 (80.0%), FT: 40.0%.
Douthit is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to ten different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Douthit has played previously professionally in Belgium, China (Guangzhou), Lebanon, Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros), Russia (Krasnie Krilya), Turkey (Antalya Buyuksehir Belediye), Venezuela (Marinos), NBA (LA Clippers) and D-League (N.Mexico T.).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Hanoi Buffalos.
Douthit's game is described as: A late blooming inside player, who finally took full advantage of his size and athletic skills. Was yet a well-known intimidator inside, with leaping ability and great timing for shot-blocking and offensive rebounding, in last years he added shooting range and now he can hurt the opponents from the 4 position too.
