Gilas Pilipinas swept the competition in the group stage of their campaign in the 2013 Super Kung Sheung Cup by handing out a 119-46 beating to the hapless Malaysian team.
Former Ateneo Blue Eagle big man Greg Slaughter returned from a bout with allergies to dump 27 points on the young and inexperienced Malaysians. Slaughter made all but 2 of his 14 field goal attempts in only 23 minutes of play.
Kevin Alas and RR Garcia also did well, scoring 18 points each to backstop Slaughters dominating performance. Alas rounded out his brilliant play with 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Fil-American Justin Melton and super swingman KG Caaleta scored 14 markers each to further underscore the Pinoys supremacy. Nobody scored more than 8 points for the Malaysians.
Gilas advances to the crossover semifinals where they are set to face the dangerous Changsha Park Lane Snow Wolves.

Hong Kong Xinlibao beat Thailand, 97-70, thanks to the hot shooting of Zhao Anan. Anan made 8 of his 14 three-point attempts to finish with 28 points. Yu Xiaohang and Liu Jiulong scored 16 and 17 points respectively for support. The Thais were led by Thotsaphit Langsui and Nattakarn Muangboon, who scored 10 points eachs.
The Hong Kong National Team (sans some key players) defeated Indonesia, 96-48. The inside-outside combo of Tsoi Lung Tak and Heung Chun Keung combined for 29 points to pace Hong Kong. Tsoi, a 68 center, added 8 rebounds and blocked 3 shots, while Heung, a pint-sized guard, dished out 5 assists. 61 swingman Kaleb Ramot Gemilang exploded with 27 points to lead the Indons losing cause.
Defending champions SCFA (Southern California Fukienese Association) trounced the Changsha Park Lane Snow Wolves, 96-84. The Americans stood out once again, with Robert Curtis and Trayvonte Britt pairing up for 41 points to spearhead the SCFA charge. The Snow Wolves were led by 611 Jia Cheng, who scored 22 points on 9-of-11 FG shooting.

Alaska Aces (PBA) signed 25-year old American forward Wendell McKines (198-103kg-88, college: New Mexico State). He just played at SPO Rouen Basket in French ProB. In 34 games he had very impressive stats: 17.3ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.3spg this season. The list of the past achievements is quite long as McKines' college team won WAC Tournament in 2010 and 2012. He was also voted NABC Division I All-District 6 1st Team in 2012. McKines graduated from New Mexico State in 2012 and it is his first season as a professional player.
