The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has approved trade deals that involved five teams and ten players last January 22. The roster shake-up is in preparation by ballclubs for the upcoming Commissioner's Cup that will start on February 8.

The trades, who centered around Barako Bull Energy, had teams beef up their respective lineups. The Energy, traded swingman Ronald Tubid (186-G-81) to the Petron Blaze Boosters in exchange for 2012 3rd pick Alex Mallari and guard/enforcer Jojo Duncil (186-G-83). Mallari was later sent to the San Mig Coffee Mixers along with guard Lester Alvarez, forward Leo Najorda (191-F-82) and a 2014 first round pick for forwards JC Intal (195-C-83) and Aldrech Ramos (198-C/F-88) and guard Jonas Villanueva (184-G-83).

In a separate deal, Ramos, just traded to the Energy, was again shipped to the Alaska Aces for Marnel Baracael (193-F/G-85), who in return was forwarded to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in exchange for Allein Maliksi (191-F-87).
