Calvin
Abueva
Calvin Abueva (88) had a great game in the last round for Alaska Aces, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Global Port (#10, 1-11) 101-95. Alaska Aces is placed at 4th position in Filipino PBA. Alaska Aces is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-6 record. In the team's last game Abueva had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Alaska Aces' top player in his first season with the team. Calvin Abueva has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 10.3rpg).

The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Jayson Castro (173-PG-86) of league's leader Talk N Text. Castro had a very good evening with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he lead Talk N Text to another comfortable win 95-82 over the lower-ranked Petron Blaze (#7, 6-7) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Talk N Text still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 11 matches. Castro is one of the most experienced players at Talk N Text and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.9ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 5.1rpg and 3.4apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Chris Ross (185-G-85) of Meralco Bolts (#5). Ross scored 14 points and passed ten assists (!!!). Despite Ross' great performance Meralco Bolts lost 85-88 to Alaska Aces (7-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Meralco Bolts needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 6 lost games. Ross has a great season in Philippines. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.8apg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Douglas Kramer (193-F-83) of Barako Bull - 6 points, 22 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Joseph Casio (177-PG-86) of Alaska Aces - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Rico Maierhofer (198-C-85) of Barangay Ginebra - 8 points and 14 rebounds
7. Ronnie Matias (193-F-83) of Rain or Shine - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Arwind Santos (193-F-81) of Petron Blaze - 22 points and 11 rebounds
9. Yancy de Ocampo (203-C-80) of San Mig Coffee - 14 points and 13 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
