Experienced Mark Cardona (180-G/F-81) had an amazing evening in the last round for Meralco Bolts and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 31-year old swingman got a double-double of 16 points and ten assists, while his team beat Petron Blaze (#8, 3-6) 95-81. Meralco Bolts is placed at 4th position in Filipino PBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Meralco Bolts will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. In the team's last game Cardona had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Meralco Bolts, through which he has constantly improved. Cardona has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 18.2ppg) and averages solid 56.3% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old American guard Mike Cortez (183-G-80) of Air21 Express. Cortez impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. It was enough for Air21 Express to edge slightly lower-ranked Barako Bull (#9, 3-6) by 1 point 86-85. This victory allowed Air21 Express to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-5 record. Cortez is a newcomer at Air21 Express and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Ranidel deOcampo (195-F-81) of top-ranked Talk N Text. deOcampo scored 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite deOcampo's great performance Talk N Text lost 101-104 to the lower-ranked Barangay Ginebra (#6, 4-5). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Talk N Text needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 2 lost games. deOcampo has a very solid season. In 5 games in Philippines he scored 13.4ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Sean Anthony (193-F-86) of Barako Bull - 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Arwind Santos (193-F-81) of Petron Blaze - 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Reynel Hugnatan (194-F-78) of Meralco Bolts - 22 points and 8 rebounds
7. Joe Devance (201-C-82) of San Mig Coffee - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Ronald Tubid (186-G-81) of Barako Bull - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Rudy Hatfield (191-F-77) of Barangay Ginebra - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Christopher Lutz (192-G/F-85) of Petron Blaze - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
