PBA Round 15: Meralco Bolts crush Air21 Express by record 29 points - Jun 21, 2012

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games.

The game with biggest result difference took place in . Local Air21 Express (1-5) were outscored by eighth ranked Meralco Bolts (3-4) 106-77 on Wednesday night. Meralco Bolts dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Air21 Express' 44. Meralco Bolts forced 22 Air21 Express turnovers and outrebounded them 60-38 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Meralco Bolts looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Air21 Express helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Mario West (195-84, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Naturalized Tongan center Asi Taulava (206-73, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 11 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) who recorded 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meralco Bolts moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Barako Bull. Air21 Express lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Meralco Bolts will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Air21 Express will play at home against Powerade T. (#3) in Pasig and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

In the last game of round 15 Talk N Text crushed Barako Bull in Makati 109-89.

Barako Bull - Talk N Text 89-109

There was a minor upset in Quezon where 5th ranked Barako Bull (3-4) was crushed by seventh ranked Talk N Text (3-3) 109-89 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Talk N Text. Barako Bull managed to win third quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Talk N Text outrebounded Barako Bull 49-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Paul Harris (193-86, college: Syracuse) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Jayson Castro (173-86) chipped in 23 points. Four Talk N Text players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Willie Miller (180-77) who recorded 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Talk N Text moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ginebra Kings. Barako Bull at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Meralco Bolts. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
