This past week was a good week. Even though we lost a good part of our team our coach. Other than that this week was good as are all of my weeks that god blessed me to see. Started on a come back trail. We been losing some close games and this week was our rivalry game agains the other team in my city. The team Hiten club they were coming off a big win and one game up on us. The other american here malcom thomas is my boy. We do everything together from workouts, walking threw the city getting lost in strange places and every one asking us how are we doing. To people looking at us like a piece of good meat when we walk down the street. We love it though he is a good guy and a good player that should get some more attention. We started off with some running 3 miles some stadium stairs then some shooting then we split ways to our teams practice. this is the way that we stay better out here on this quest to be the best.
The game was very competitive i got in early foul trouble in the 3rd quarter but my troops stayed in the game my team mate bashir hit a big 3 at the end of the 3rd to put us down one and gave us mommentum going into the 4th. My teammates hit some big shots to keep us in front in the 4th until i came back in the game. We sealed the deal in a big win and ultimate bragging rights as the best team this year in the city of nablus hard luck and good game from the hiten club and my new found friend malcome thomas. Thanks to all the fans of ebal club and my team mates and management for a great week of practice.Thank you my team for playing tough smart and together. IM out for now bout to hit the turkish bath and get ready for tomorrows game stay in wit me i got more to say
Palestinians are the friendliest and most hospitable people I have ever been around- Apr.3, 2010 (by Jamal)
Hello, world I'm back out in the Middle East doing what I love to do
This is my second experience out here in the Middle East. I was in Lebanon last year and spent some time in Bahrain also. Now I'm in Palestine. I know you say Palestine and you assume aren't they fighting over there. Its not like that in the West Bank but things do go down with Palestinians and Israelis. Hello, world I'm back out in the Middle East doing what I love to do This is my second experience out here in the Middle East. I was in Lebanon last year and spent some time in Bahrain also. Now I'm in Palestine. I know you say Palestine and you assume aren't they fighting over there. Its not like that in the West Bank but things do go down with Palestinians and Israelis. Since I have been here it hasn't been any problems. It's a two sided story that has been going on for a lot of years and I hope that one day they can live together in peace with each other. The biggest thing that bugged me though was the border crossing I came from the Jordan side. I waited 8 hours just to get through. Israel overseas who can go through and who can't. I understand they just doing there jobs but come on do I really look like a threat. Palestinians are really misunderstood and I feel for them a lot. These are the friendliest and most hospitable people I have ever been around. Everybody here treats me like their own family. My club makes sure I am comfortable with whatever they have to give me while I'm in their country. It's a blessing for me to even be here in these Holy Lands. I'm going to tell be a grand father telling my grand kids stories about when I was out here. It's humbling experience for me this makes you appreciate what I got and what we have in the States. I just wish this country finds peace with their neighbours. Now as far as the basketball its not what I'm used to but here it's given me an opportunity to work on some things. I need to work on with basketball so that's good for me. This league is just starting its the second year they allowed imports. This year the imports are pretty good the game is different, it's only one import per team. As an import you have a big responsibility. If your locals aren't up to par then you have the weight of the team on your shoulders you are depended on so much. I have to do a lot for my team to get a W. I don't mind though. It's helping me improve my all around game. My team Ebal Nablus is a team that has a lot of young players and this year so far we are 2nd. The main thing that I have got to deal with is the fact that a lot of my players don't come to practice. I have been at the gym for 3 hours before the whole team shows up. For us to get back to winning we have to grow as a unit and play as a team. Practice is what that is for we beat this team Ibdaa Dheisheh the best team over here the second game but we played hard and together that's how we won we got to get back to that type of play. I have to be a leader on this team and a teacher (being from the States). I have played in different places my knowledge of the game is more than the guys on the team even the coach. I love to share all that I have learned to the younger guys. I am trying to help out here a lot because I want the game of basketball to be every where the passion of the game is strong. Here people love the game. They don't have a lot of facilities where I am for training but you got to make do with what u have. Until you can get better. Well I'm out stay tuned for more and I got a lot to share with you. Stay tuned.
