Manama book berth in semis - May 19, 2016

Manama crushed Nizwa of Oman 99-59 in the second round of the 36th GCC Basketball Clubs Championship played yesterday at Al Ahli Club in Dubai. With the win, Manama advanced to the semi-final round, and will next face Qatar's Al Rayyan who defeated Ohod of Saudi Arabia 94-57 also yesterday. The semi-final is scheduled for tomorrow to be played at 3pm, Bahrain time. The quarters scores of the match were as follows: 23-16, 22-13, 27-16, 27-14. Manama's best scorers in the game were Austin Daye (211-F-88, college: Gonzaga, agency: Priority Sports) who was the highest scorer for the fourth consecutive game with 17 points, along with Hussain Mohammed (PG) who finished with 16 points, while teammates Ahmed Abdulaziz and Kadeem Coleby (206-C/F-89, college: Wichita St.) added 14 each, and Mohammed Kuwayyed had 13. The match saw a good crowd attendance by the Manama fans, who came to support the team all way from Bahrain. The number of Manama supporters is expected to increase in their team's next semi-final round game against Al Rayyan. A victory will send Manama into their first ever final since 2001.
In the other match, Bahrain's second team Al Ahli lost to Al Sadd of Qatar 88-82 that ended their hopes of qualifying for the semi-final. The quarters scores were as follows: 26-11, 27-23, 12-19, 23-29. Al Ahli's best scorers were Loren Woods (218-C-78, college: Arizona) who scored 21 points, along with Hussain Shaker and Hisham Sarhan who both had 20 points each.

Barva lands Justin Dobbins, ex As Seeb - 17 days ago
Defending champion Ferreteria Brenes Barva (LBS) landed 30-year old American center Justin Dobbins (203-87kg-87, college: E.Michigan). He moved there from As Seeb in Omani D1 league where he played this season. The last summer Dobbins played at 25 de Agosto in Uruguayan Ascenso. In 14 games he averaged impressive 17.5ppg, 12.2rpg, 3.1apg and 2.1bpg. Among other achievements he won Uruguay Metropolitan League championship title in 2014. Nizwa beat Seeb in Oman league championship race - 1 month ago
Oman league championship race. Top four teams played 6 games in a 12 days. This system of competition was very bad for all four teams,very tiring. Basketball federation did very poor job in organization of finals for Oman league championship. We have to say that mistakes like changing the rules in the middle of the season,changing the system of competition,and schedule in the middle of playoffs it's not something that should happen   [read more]
Oman league playoff is getting closer - 3 months ago
Two more rounds left before playoffs starts for Oman league. Four team who will advance will play two rounds,league system. Teams who are already qualified are Al Nizwa,As Seeb,Al Ahli and Al Ittifaq. Play off will start march 7th. Today As Seeb will play against Ahli Sudab in Muscat-Sultan Qabus sports complex ,both teams already qualified for play off.
