The U.S. Embassy said Sunday that four sports envoys will be in the country this week as part of a U.S. State Department-sponsored program to emphasize the importance of academics, cooperation, and respect for diversity.
The group will conduct several sports workshops with local youth before leaving Friday. Three of the envoys arrived this weekend and the last one is due to fly into Yangon later Sunday

The group includes Charlotte Bobcats basketball team manager Richard Cho, a Myanmar native who migrated to the United States. Also traveling are Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Darvin Ham, former Womens National Basketball Association player Allison Feaster-Strong (5'11''-F-76, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: Harvard) and former NBA player Marty Conlon (6'11''-F/C-68, college: Providence).

Cambodia earned the seventh place at SEA Games 2011. They held off Myanmar in Jakarta tonight. Oeun Sophoeun (180-F/G-85) scored 34 points to pace the winners.
Cambodia started the game strongly. They erupted for 28 points in the opening quarter taking a 6-point lead after ten minutes. Cambodia limited Myanmar to 12 points in the second term to establish a 43:34 halftime lead. But Myanmar changed the complexion of the encounter in the third term

Cambodia earned the seventh place at SEA Games 2011. They held off Myanmar in Jakarta tonight. Oeun Sophoeun (180-F/G-85) scored 34 points to pace the winners. Cambodia started the game strongly. They erupted for 28 points in the opening quarter taking a 6-point lead after ten minutes. Cambodia limited Myanmar to 12 points in the second term to establish a 43:34 halftime lead. But Myanmar changed the complexion of the encounter in the third term. They cut the deficit to 5 points with one quarter remaining. Myanmar surged ahead 80:78 with under four minutes remaining. But Cambodia crowned the game with six points in a row and stole their first win at the tournament. Mith Pek provided 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Cambodia. Putratana Monh (180-G-81) added 12 points in the win. Chan Chan answered with 21 points for Myanmar. Win Cho tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds in the losing effort.

Malaysia registered the second win at SEA Games 2011. They coasted past Myanmar to take 2-1 record in Group B. Chuan Chin Wee (180-G-84) nailed 20 points to lead the effort.
Malaysia dominated from the opening minutes. They arrived at the first break up by 8 points 24:16. Malaysia unloaded 25 points in the second term to take a 49:36 halftime advantage. They never slowed down after the big break

They never slowed down after the big break. Malaysia went for 30 points in the third quarter to enlarge their lead to as many as 25 points with one quarter remaining. Malaysia stayed in control in the final period and rallied to a comfortable win at the end. Ban Sin Ooi (180-G/F-83) and John NgYeo Seng had 16 points each for the winners. Kyar Gyi replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds for Myanmar. Chan Chan had 15 points in the loss.
